PUC Releases Management Efficiency Investigation Report for Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today released a Management Efficiency Investigation report for Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc. (Columbia Gas) evaluating the implementation of eleven recommendations from a 2013 Focused Management and Operations Audit.

The Commission voted 5-0 today to make public both the audit report and the Columbia Gas Implementation Plan.  The report indicates that the company has effectively or substantially implemented 7 of the 11 prior recommendations that were reviewed, and has taken some action on four remaining recommendations.

Columbia Gas provides natural gas service to about 423,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in portions of 26 counties in western, northwestern, central and southern Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities; ensures safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protects the public interest; educates consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; furthers economic development; and fosters new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
