Alloway Supports Measures to Ensure Timely DEP Permits

HARRISBURG – Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33) today applauded the Governor's Executive Order directing the Department of Environmental Protection to speed up its permitting review and approval process.

Governor Corbett signed an Executive Order that creates a Permit Guarantee Program that sets hard deadlines for DEP to process permit applications. This action is expected to facilitate the permitting process and ensure businesses, nonprofit organizations, local governments and individuals who submit a permit application will have a clearer picture on the status of their applications.

"Unnecessary delays and uncertainty in the permitting process have been a serious frustration for business owners and municipal officials alike," Alloway said. "I am thankful that Governor Corbett, Secretary Krancer and DEP staff are addressing this issue. They deserve a great deal of credit for taking action to streamline this process."
